Publishing a book, Self-Publishing, in my case, means that work begins now. Writing is not an easy task, but getting the news out is not a one-time task. In my blog, “Getting Noticed,” I described my email list, my FaceBook followers, this blog, and my Twitter friends as part of my platform.

I am pretty sure that followers on any platform become fatigued with constant book plugs. When I look at a possible follow on Twitter and find that the last six posts are the same “buy my book” tweets, I tend not to follow. There is something to be said for being genuine. I hope my followers never think the only reason I am on Twitter or Facebook is to hawk my wares.

I have more books to publish. Three are done, but at this time, progress is slow because of “Platform Support.” I am striving for balance. I tell myself platform is important, but I have the nagging feeling that I am letting “lazy” get in the way of writing. Am I having success?

Today I did some long-overdue editing. It’s the start toward the new normal—after publishing.

I spent my life teaching 6th graders. We have always been involved in church. Now I spend my days in an old stone house, wandering our four acres, and writing.
