Members of the Cast, a historical novel taking place in 1959, enjoys positive reviews. Of the 15 written reviews on Amazon, two (13%) want me to write more about Maggie. I take this as a compliment.

So, is there any more to be said about Maggie? In my head, yes. I wrote an epilog that takes place in 2019, but it will not be part of a book. Members of the Cast is not a series.

A Series: The Wave of the Future

At a San Francisco Writer’s conference, we had a chance to pitch our books. I said I was writing a steampunk trilogy. An agent immediately told me that it was not a trilogy. The first book was a stand-alone novel with series potential. The agent owns her agency and knows her stuff, so I didn’t use the “T” word for a while. Since that time, I have eighty percent of my mind made up to self-publish the books, and they will be advertised as a trilogy.

Calling the “three books a trilogy puts a cap on the book set. It may be that readers will want to know more about Will and the crew of the flying riverboat called the Cloud Queen, but the third book is conclusive. I tied up all the loose ends, hoping I left no plot threads dangling to irritate readers.

Apparently, I am not a series writer.

I spent my life teaching 6th graders. We have always been involved in church. Now I spend my days in an old stone house, wandering our four acres, and writing.
