When I was teaching, I often said, “Nobody listens to me around here.” My 6th graders were to answer, “Whaaaaat?” in a dull tone. If some poor kid was slow in responding, I knew they were not listening. I believed in “unity of listening.”

I have been watching the fall colors. In the foothills of Northern California, we are in the middle of the change. It amazes me when a branch doesn’t pay attention when a tree turns and falls behind.

This picture shows a complete lack of autumn coordination among branches.

This is the way I feel about some of the chapters in my WIP. During editing, it is clear that some characters have not carefully read the previous passages. Recently Benny spoke when he was not even on the airship!

I spent my life teaching 6th graders. We have always been involved in church. Now I spend my days in an old stone house, wandering our four acres, and writing.
