The audiobook of Members of the Cast is complete. As planned, I am going “wide” with the distribution. It is on ten vendor sites and will continue to be distributed to 36 more. The current vendors are listed here: Current Vendor Sites.

Because piano music is key to the plot (See what I did there?) I wanted piano music at the beginning and end of the book. I had several recordings by my friend Jim Gaden, who passed away in 1979.

I spent hours looking for a recording of what I call “Jim’s Song.” It is a haunting melody, and I am probably the only person in the world who plays the song. With my thumb in a brace, I could not reach clean octaves with my right hand and had to give up on that plan.

Because T. Charles plays a variety of music styles, I decided to use a stride piano piece for the book. One of Jim’s recordings is his arrangement of “Sunday.” It is a little-known tune, and it is in the public domain!

I made two clips of the 1972 recording with Audacity and sent them to Shelley Reece. She was pleased and added them. The opening music slightly overpowered her voice, and before we could correct it, I fumbled and OKed the Opening on Findaway Voices. (Watch what you do in the last moments of accepting chapters.)

I put the opening credits and the first two sentences on YouTube.

I spent my life teaching 6th graders. We have always been involved in church. Now I spend my days in an old stone house, wandering our four acres, and writing.
