In college, my friend was a distance runner. He talked about over-distance. The idea seemed to be if you were going to compete in the mile, then run several miles at pace during practice. It made sense to me.

This may be like the farmer who said he was losing $1.24 per acre on corn. When asked how he could make a living that way, “Volume” was the answer.

On Twitter, I am often asked what is happening with my current Work In Progress (WIP), and my usual answer is, “I am editing.” I edit a great deal.

My latest book, The Ship from Wolfskill, has been out for a month. A reader noted this:

At the airship, José walked the horse up the ramp. “There is not enough feed for him to say here. We will put him in the north pasture.”

It may be a talking horse has taken a vow of silence because he is hungry. A more realistic analysis would be that I didn’t press the letter “t” at the appropriate moment.

This is curious because I checked the manuscript multiple times before pressing the Publish button.

I have corrected the error, and am sure that those first books will become sought-after items, bringing high prices at auction. I felt it only fair that I make this error public. Now others wishing to get in on the money-making scheme can purchase a copy and scour the pages to find another error.

Then it will be necessary to notify me of the new error and hope I make the correction. Absence of another blog, it may be necessary to purchase an additional copy of The Ship from Wolfskill to ensure that the error is no longer present.

I wonder if a matched brace of copies, albeit one corrected, would draw bidders to auction and increase the value?

I spent my life teaching 6th graders. We have always been involved in church. Now I spend my days in an old stone house, wandering our four acres, and writing.
