I’ve been thinking about my trilogy. The first book, The Ship from Wolfskill, is out and not setting the world on fire. This begs the question, “Should I publish the second and third book?”

• Yes. The books are complete.

• No. I take revision and editing seriously, so I have a lot of work ahead.

• Yes. Each book is better than the first.

• No. What would make me think either would be more successful?

• Yes. Success isn’t everything.

• No. I have a new idea for a new book I would like to develop.

• Yes. The last book is exciting.

• No. I am at the “I hate this series” place in writing.

• Yes. I said I would publish, and so I am.

So, I am halfway through this set of edits for book two. When I am working, I find the plot and characters intriguing. When I am trying to buck up for another session, I find myself procrastinating.

Solution: I am going to publish book two this year. I want to say by September, but I’m not too fond of pressure.

I spent my life teaching 6th graders. We have always been involved in church. Now I spend my days in an old stone house, wandering our four acres, and writing.
