I was never a sprinter. I’m slow out of the gate—more of a plodder.
I see writers on Facebook and Twitter saying, “Who’s up for a writing sprint?” I read these invitations with envy—it sounds so collegial and cozy. I imagine myself pounding out lines, all the while knowing others are writing at lightning speed.
It is probably good that I wouldn’t have a Zoom tile of the other writers because I would probably see empty tiles or a stock photo. When in Zoom meetings, I find it interesting to see people turning off their video feed several times in a session. I never think they have turned off the camera because they are madly scribbling notes about the fascinating discussion.
Perhaps I should offer a Slogger’s Write. I would extend the time to something over four hours. Goals could include a snack, a short nap, time to pet the dog, and writing. I feel I could succeed when doing a Slogger’s Write. At the end of the session, we could all compare how little we accomplished.
