I want to give an honest report of what one might expect when self-publishing on Amazon Books. I call Members of the Cast successful but certainly not rocketing toward the Best Seller’s List. When digesting my 22 days of sales, it may help to read about the George Beckman Book Launch. (Or lack thereof.)
Of the 22 days, today (at 10:30 AM Pacific) is the first day I have not had some sort of profit from the book.* You may notice, I didn’t say sales. Members of the Cast is part of Kindle Unlimited, meaning I get paid by pages read in the program. Not counting today, there have been two days no copies of the book sold, but both days recorded pages read.
My average daily sales have been 4.2 books per day. (93 books in 22 days.) The top day was 27 books, and as I said, two days recorded zero sales.
The total number of Pages Read from the Kindle Unlimited program is 1,214. At $0.0045 a page, there is no danger of overwhelming the royalties’ coffers. I have had a couple of days with enough pages to make me believe someone read the whole book. A day with 22 pages read makes me think someone started and didn’t care for the book. (Sigh)
I have been asked to talk to a retired teacher’s meeting in my former town, asked to have a table at my local Gold Country Writers Association, and agreed to do an “Author’s Talk” at a Western States GMC motor home rally in the fall. One reader says she plans to get her book club members a copy.
My book sales location and format are shown in the chart below:

Happy publishing to all.
