I only claim to partially know what I am doing. I have written other blogs about formatting a book for KDP Print. But there are some oddities in KDP Print that defy my best efforts. Here is my best advice, repeated.

1. Make sure you watch Joe Garland’s videos about formatting.

2. Use KDP Word Templates(I use LibreOffice, and I donate.) The templates have the Style mostly set up for formatting for a print book. The templates are found Here:

3. Use two carriage returns at the end of each chapter. ¶¶ This will keep justified margins from odd spacing.

There are times when KDP Print adds pages in end-matter sections.

Added Page after Copyright

This problem is elusive. Sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn’t. I do mechanical work on vehicles, and intermittent problems are the worst. Here is a picture of what finally fixed the problem. Not sure what is different from other versions, but now my book doesn’t have an extra page after the copyright page and the dedication.

4. Hopefully, this will help:

Big Returns to lower and two returns to Cap it Off.

I spent my life teaching 6th graders. We have always been involved in church. Now I spend my days in an old stone house, wandering our four acres, and writing.
